With only a few weeks of 2021 left, we thought we’d take a look back at our year.

It’s certainly been another interesting year for Medical Hire (and the UK as a whole) with Covid-19 still affecting our daily lives, but we’ve most definitely got to grips with living with it and we’ve continued to adapt our ways of working around it.

Despite 2021 getting off to a slow start with yet another national lockdown, it’s been a busy year for Medical Hire.

We’ve continued to work with the cast and crew of our great British soaps – ITV’s Coronation Street and Emmerdale. As always, there have been lots of dramatic, gripping, and emotional storylines – none more so than those aired in this year’s super-soap week – and it’s a huge pleasure to continue supporting the teams with medical props and equipment to help bring stories to life.

We’ve also had the pleasure of being involved in many other new productions that have aired this year including Wolfe on Sky TV, the Tower on ITV, The Girlfriend Experience on Amazon, Three Families on BBC One, and The Girl Before which starts this weekend also on BBC One.

A number of productions returned to our screens with new series in 2021 that Medial Hire were delighted to be involved in: Brassic on Sky One, Vera on ITV, the Dumping Ground on CBBC, and more.

The Medical Hire team also had the huge pleasure of providing medical props and healthcare equipment for box office hit Venom 2 which was released this autumn. And we were thrilled to receive a personal thank you message from the Venom crew for our support.

2021 also marked a milestone for Medical Hire as we reached our 10th anniversary. It’s amazing to think that Medical Hire began as a result of a chance request from a TV company who had been let down by their medical props supplier. The TV company asked our sister company Independence Mobility to help, which they did, and the service became a permanent fixture, but under the new name of Medical Hire.

To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we also developed and launched a brand-new website. Not only is this a great new platform for showcasing our ever-growing range of medical props and equipment for hire for TV and film production, but it also features a clever ‘equipment wish list’ tool where visitors can save their chosen products before sending them to the Medical Hire team for a cost quotation.

The best thing about 2021, however, has been the continued support of our team of medical advisors. All our advisors are working nurses, most of whom work as paramedics or in A&E and ICU. This year, like last year, has been incredibly difficult for them as they have been very much on the frontline of the pandemic. To continue working with Medical Hire alongside their daily work commitments is absolutely phenomenal and we cannot thank them enough!

Looking forward to 2022, we are excited for the future of Medical Hire. We have already started working on-set with many new productions that are due air in 2022 and our order book is filling up fast. We will continue to expand our range of medical props and healthcare equipment so our customers can benefit from the best products for their filming needs. And we will continue to offer our support in whatever way it’s needed – whether it’s recommending products over the phone, providing script advice, or being present on-set during filming. We are always here to help!

We wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year!
