Maternity Equipment for Emotional Miscarriage Story
An incredibly emotional miscarriage storyline started earlier this week on the cobbles of Coronation Street when Michelle Connor sadly lost her baby.
After early pregnancy concerns relating to the possibility of Steve having a rare, hereditary illness, Michelle is suddenly struck with stomach pains and is rushed to hospital. Initial checks and scans indicate that everything looks OK but things take a heart-breaking turn for the worse when Michelle ends up going into labour. Her baby son Ruairi is born at only 23 weeks but is sadly too under-developed to survive.
Chloe and the team at Medical Hire were incredibly proud to be a part of this very sensitive storyline and were heavily involved from the script through to filming. Specialist maternity and delivery room equipment were used to ensure complete authenticity and advisors were on-hand to offer continued support and advice throughout filming.
Filming was particularly emotional for actress Kym Marsh as she suffered the loss of her own son just a few years ago at a similar stage of pregnancy. On becoming involved in the story for Coronation Street Kym said, ““I thought long and hard before agreeing to take on the challenge of this storyline. It is obviously a cause very close to my heart having lost my beautiful Archie at 21 weeks and 5 days. I discussed it with my family and friends, all of who were very supportive. In the end, I felt it was an important story to tell in order to raise awareness of something which affects thousands of women every year.”
The story continues in the coming weeks when Coronation Street viewers will see Michelle and partner Steve struggling to come to terms with their loss.
